It was nearly 40 years ago when God initiated a work in the southeast of England that eventually became the Newfrontiers family of churches. Terry Virgo began leading a church in Seaford in 1968, and his sphere of influence grew into the surrounding area. Over the years Terry has drawn many alongside him. Churches with a vision to be strong in both Word and Spirit have consequently sprung up around the world. Further details of Terry’s story can be found on his website, and in his book No Well Worn Paths, which is available on Amazon.com

Newfrontiers started in the United States in 1993 when Terry and his family moved to Missouri for a period of two years. During that time leaders gathered to Terry from several different churches in the Midwest and Northeast. When Terry moved back to England in 1995 he asked John Lanferman to oversee these churches. John now leads a team that serves the Newfrontiers churches in the USA. Since Terry’s return to England, there have been churches in the Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, and Southeast that have both joined Newfrontiers and started as new church plants. What began as a handful of churches in three states has now grown to more than twenty churches, church plants, and pioneering efforts in twelve states.

Led by John Lanferman and his team, Newfrontiers USA is currently working in Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Washington. An increasing closeness of relationships, singleness of vision, and reception of Ephesians 4 ministries has developed amongst the churches. Our mission is to plant churches in major cities across the USA, as well as to increase our involvement in other nations. As part of the larger Newfrontiers family of churches, we continue to make a difference in the United States and also around the world through our efforts to start churches, train leaders, make disciples, and care for the poor.
